Fashion and print collaborate

Read our April issue in our online archive.

As someone who has always been fascinated by the world of fashion, with its glamorous catwalk shows and celebrity trend setters, I fulfilled somewhat of a dream of mine recently by attending a press event for a fashion designer.

Richard Quinn’s latest collection wowed at London Fashion Week and even caught the eye of The Queen, who gave the designer the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. The story attracted widespread interest across news outlets—you know it is a big deal when The Queen pops up on your social media!

Epson, Quinn’s printer manufacturer of choice, put on the press event to showcase what its technology can do. Quinn proved as an excellent example of how Epson printers can be used to create clothing and he also championed more sustainable fashion with his use of recyclable polyester (read more on p38).

Heather Kendle, market development manager at Epson Europe, explained on the day that the whole Epson team feel like “proud parents”, which is both a lovely thing to hear and an inspiring thing to hear, especially for other young people starting out in their careers looking for affordable technology to get going.

Maybe our readers out there also have a business idea and passion for something they are not currently exploring? I suggest you take inspiration from Quinn and go for it. With the right idea and a passionate focus, there is more than enough technology out there to support your idea. Good luck.
