Paul Cooper has worked in the security market for more than 30 years

The company acquired Luminescence, a manufacturer of security and brand protection inks, earlier this year and now opted to bring its own division under the umbrella.

Luminescence specialises in customised, ink-based solutions for banknotes, tax stamps and secure documents, such as passports and ID cards.

Headquartered in the UK, the business boasts R&D facilities in the UK, France and the US and with European bank accredited manufacturing sites also in the UK, France and the Netherlands.

We’re 100 percent committed to the security printing market

Cooper, who has over 30 years’ experience in the security market, comments: “Previously Luminescence may have had a limited ability to scale operations to meet the needs of the largest printers and banks, just as Sun Chemical might not have had the technology to meet the demands of every printer and bank in the market.

“Together, however, in the new combined organisation, we now have the capabilities to satisfy the requirements of every security printer and central bank.”

Felipe Mellado, chief marketing officer and board member at Sun Chemical, adds: “We’re 100 percent committed to the security printing market and, with the combination of Luminescence’s proven technologies and Sun Chemical’s global reach, resources and R&D capability, we can provide the security printing industry with a highly competitive and innovative partner.”
