With support from the services and the wider community, Contact is up and running

The flexographic plate manufacturer for the corrugated and flexible packaging sectors experienced the serious fire in the early hours of Saturday January 18th at its Bredbury, Stockport facility.

As a result of the fire, Contact lost one complete building and investigations are still ongoing with the fire services to identify the cause.

Steve Mulcahy, group chief executive officer of the firm comments: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the offers of help from the sector and despite the difficulties experienced over the weekend, we are back in full production and able to service our customers despite the seriousness of the fire.”

With the outpourings of help and support from everyone across the industry we can communicate with confidence that Contact is in great shape and we’re ready to move forward

Despite the catastrophic loss caused, the whole team pulled together and the company was able to relocate the entire studio and production set up in its second facility.

All customer data was backed up on two separate servers, so Contact was able to re-establish all its systems and was up and running again on Monday morning.

Mulcahy adds: “Clearly this has been a devastating blow to the business. We’ve built a fantastic reputation over the past few years and we are determined that this will not affect our performance. I’m personally humbled by the sheer determination of the Contact team to rise to the situation.

“With the outpourings of help and support from everyone across the industry we can communicate with confidence that Contact is in great shape and we’re ready to move forward.”
