Companies prepare to launch their latest eco-friendly solutions

Research by sustainability focused media brand, edie, found that 36% of Europeans are already boycotting brands over packaging sustainability concerns. The research also found that 92% of consumers would choose a card-based packaging option over plastic packaging.

What’s more, 68% of UK shoppers also say that the environmental impact of a product’s packaging affects their purchasing choice.

In light of this surge in consumer demand, sustainability is one of the key themes of this year’s exhibition with a number of companies taking the opportunity to launch their eco-friendly solutions.

Wrapid and DuPont Tijin Films will launch its Mylar rPET lidding film range for the food sector. The range was created using a 50% post-consumer recycled content sourced from European deposit return schemes.

Camvac will showcase its new fully biodegradable and home compostable decorative metallised film, Cambrite Camvert. This is a solution to metallised polyester and is available in a range of colours with a mirror-like finish.

Also in the field of packaging, Foxpak Flexibles will showcase its Generation Green range of compostable, recyclable and paper primary packaging solutions available in stand-up pouches, sachets, coffee pouches and three side seal bags.

Providing a solution to embossing, i2r Packaging Solutions will present its patent protected new style of embossing – i2r Ultra, which increases stress resistance to reduce the gauge, price point and environmental impact of the aluminium tray.

Paul MacDonald, global brand director of Easyfairs’ Packaging Portfolio comments: “Innovation remains at the heart of the show and there will be no shortage of new products on display on the exhibition floor.”
