Precision Proco expands with Hunkeler

Commercial print and marketing operations business Precision Proco has set out the latest phase of its growth plans, after its recent investment in a Hunkeler roll-to-sheet solution helped significantly expand its print finishing offering.

The new solution comprises a Hunkeler UW6-22 Unwinder, WM8 Merger, CS8 Cutter and LS8-30 Stacker

Comprising a Hunkeler UW6-22 Unwinder, WM8 Merger, CS8 Cutter and LS8-30 Stacker, the solution is now in place at Precision Proco’s facility in Sheffield.

Available in the UK through Friedheim International, the solution is being used to support a new HP T240 Page Wide Press, which Precision Proco also recently installed as part of a wider expansion effort.

Graeme Parry, production director at Precision Proco Sheffield, says: “There are not many go-to manufacturers that that ticked all the boxes that we had on our wish list, but Hunkeler satisfied all of them.

“We needed a solution that could sheet down direct mail pieces that we could then present across the direct mail kit portfolio, but also open up other formats.

With the speed the line runs at this has meant quicker manufacturing times and better load balancing on the work

“The flexibility of the line has meant we can look at switching production methods that before may have only been possible as cut sheet projects by origination. With the speed the line runs at this has meant quicker manufacturing times and better load balancing on the work.

Precision Proco forms part of the Precision Proco Group, a family of companies that, brought together earlier this year, also includes Prime, an expert in mass customisation, Where The Trade Buys, an upload and print webstore, and also Climb, a digital solutions provider.

Parry says that such has been the impact of the Hunkeler kit, Precision Proco has been able to help production across other areas of the group.

“We have been working on other non-direct mail applications that will support the Precision Proco Group; it’s been a steep learning curve on the kit and we are constantly trying new things to see where differing projects can be converted to the reel to sheet format,” Parry says.
