BoxMart scoops packaging gong for LUSH work

BoxMart has picked up a prestigious UK Packaging Award after working with Swanline Print to develop a special ‘Magic’ Cube pack for beauty retailer LUSH.

The box can now be seen at LUSH stores across the UK

The firm, an expert in designing unique packaging solutions, was commissioned by LUSH to develop a gift box that continuously folds and refolds to morph into new shapes, with each compartment of the box housing a certain product.

The product starts out as an oversized cube, before transforming into a large rectangle and then splitting in half and changing back into a cube again. This process can be repeated no matter how many times it is folded and opened.

For this project, Swanline manufactured the cubes from recycled E-flute, which were then printed externally with six neon colours and screen printed internally.
Flat-packed units were supplied to stores with instructions for assembly.

It’s a truly ingenious concept and we are thrilled both to have been part of it and that it has been recognised with the award

Richard Towers, managing director of Swanline, paid tribute to the award win and overall project: “Swanline worked closely with BoxMart to produce the pack, whose inventive structure made it a fun and rewarding project for everyone involved.

“Its mechanism involves four pairs of interlocking compartments, each with a unique one-way locking tab. When interlocked in a specific order they create a never-ending, free-flowing design that holds its shape even when filled with products.

“It’s a truly ingenious concept and we are thrilled both to have been part of it and that it has been recognised with the award.”
