Mondi announces paper grade price hikes

Packaging and paper firm, Mondi, has revealed price rises across the majority of its fine paper grades produced in Austria and Slovakia.

The paper price rise follows a turbulent year due to the Covid-19 pandemic

As of July 5th the prices will increase by between 8% and 15%.

From six sites in Austria, Slovakia, Russia, and South Africa, Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper – which is part of the Mondi Group – produces pulp and environmentally friendly office and professional printing papers.

Mondi’s paper brands include Color Copy, PERGRAPHICA, NAUTILUS, NEUJET, IQ, MAESTRO, BIO TOP 3, and ROTATRIM.

The news follows reports in February this year that Mondi’s annual profits fell by a third due to a fall in selling prices for pulp and paper grades as well as challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.

We recognise these price adjustments come at a time where our industry emerges from a challenging period.

Johannes Klumpp, director of marketing and sales for Uncoated Fine Paper at Mondi, says: “We recognise these price adjustments come at a time where our industry emerges from a challenging period.

“The decision reflects increased input costs and is necessary to continue offering our customers the outstanding portfolio, quality and service they rely on us for.”

In July 2019, Mondi raised its recycled containerboard prices by €60 (£52) per tonne, citing a continued reduction of stock levels and rising demand.
